Our Student Experience Pillars

Deakin Res has a critical role to play in enhancing your student experience when you live on campus during your time studying at Deakin. DRS operates all student programs, events, and support structures through a comprehensive framework to codify and articulate the experience you get within on-campus accommodation. The framework provides a cohesive structure to student programming and support to ensure a consistent approach towards the quality of experience on residence, whilst taking into account the scale and size of each campus, and individual nuances of the student cohort at each location.

Health and Wellbeing:

We organise specialised events that provide you with opportunities to engage in the exploration of healthy relationships, mental health and physical wellbeing that will set you up for life beyond your time on res. You will be provided with opportunities to participate in events and activities focused on education and raising awareness in areas such as:

  • Empowerment and Respect

  • Physical Fitness

  • Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing

  • Financial Fitness

  • Resilience and Mindfulness

Academic Success

You will have access to exclusive study facilities and form strong networks with your peers, and we’re proud to say research shows students living on campus are more likely to achieve higher academic results than their peers. Events and activities include:

  • Regular peer-led academic support sessions

  • Study skill development sessions

  • Informal study support/shared study gatherings

Social and Community

We’re proud of the great communities that form each year on our residences. A series of orientation events and activities ensure you get to know your fellow residents in a safe and supportive environment.  Events and activities include:

  • Opportunities to participate in sports and fitness

  • Community development and volunteering

  • External Community Engagement

The College Cup and Sense of Belonging reflect how engaging and connected our community has been. When we see our residents off of Res be it at class, at the beach, or at local sport, we have a sense of pride knowing we are all connected back to Res, our Home
