Terms and Conditions


Name of Competition
Deakin Residential Services Open Day MacBook Giveaway

Eligible Entrants
This competition is free to enter and open to prospective students, their parents or guardians, or other kin who submit a completed enquiry form in person at a Deakin University Open Day between Sunday 3 August 2025 and Sunday 24 August 2025 (inclusive), in the manner set out in these Terms and Conditions.

Entrants must be Australian residents aged 16 years or older at the time of entry. Employees of Deakin University, Deakin Residential Services Pty Ltd (DRS), and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.

Competition Period
The competition commences at 8:00am AEST on Sunday 3 August 2025 and closes at 11:59pm AEST on Sunday 24 August 2025.

How to Enter
To enter the competition, eligible individuals must either:

  • Complete and submit an online form via the QR code, or

  • Provide their details on a handwritten form at a Deakin University Open Day, to be submitted to DRS staff.

Only one entry per person is permitted. Duplicate entries may be deemed invalid.

Selection of Winner
A single winner will be randomly drawn on Monday 1 September 2025 at 10:00am AEST at the Deakin Residential Services office, Deakin University, Waurn Ponds Campus, 75 Pigdons Road, Waurn Ponds, VIC 3216.

The prize consists of one Apple MacBook Air laptop, valued at approximately $1,500 (value dependent on retail pricing at time of purchase).

Notification of Winner
The winner will be contacted by phone and/or email within five business days of the draw. The winner's name may also be announced on Deakin Residential Services’ official Facebook and Instagram pages within 14 days of the draw.

If the winner does not respond to claim their prize within 21 days of notification, they will forfeit the prize and a re-draw may be conducted.

Prize Delivery
Prize delivery will be arranged between DRS and the winner, taking into account their location. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash or alternative products.

General Terms and Conditions

  • This competition is run by Deakin Residential Services Pty Ltd (ABN 22 145 979 344).

  • Submission of an entry constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

  • DRS is not responsible for incomplete, lost, late, or misdirected entries.

  • Entries will be void if found to be forged, manipulated, or tampered with.

  • DRS's decisions regarding all aspects of the competition are final and binding.

  • Entrants consent to DRS using their name, likeness, or voice in promotional material, including social media posts. The winner may be requested to participate in a photo opportunity or interview.

  • DRS is not liable for any loss, damage, injury, or accident that occurs in connection with the competition or prize.

  • Personal information collected will be used for administering the competition and contacting the winner. By entering, entrants agree to receive communications from DRS.

  • DRS handles personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and its Privacy Policy. For queries, contact drsprivacy@deakin.edu.au.

  • This competition is governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia.
