How we can help

Found a great room but not sure how to complete a rental application? Are you unsure of what to expect when you arrive or what your rights are as a tenant in Victoria?

Our off-campus housing service can help you:

  • Understand rental application forms.

  • Understand your rights and responsibilities as a tenant under rooming house agreements or residential tenancy agreements.

  • Avoid housing scams.

  • Provide Emergency Housing (dependent on availability)

  • Refer you to relevant University Services as required for additional support.

Moving to Australia to study?

If you're an international student wanting to live off campus, you should only start looking for accommodation once you’ve arrived in Victoria.

We recommend that you stay in short-term accommodation for at least the first week of your arrival while you look. All of our campuses have short-term accommodation options nearby, such as hotels, motels and hostels.

You're also welcome to stay for a short amount of time at one of our campuses.

Making good accommodation decisions

As with many online products and services, rental listings can be susceptible to scamming. Make sure you're aware of the telltale signs of a scam so you don't get caught out.

Renting your space to Deakin students

If you're interested in renting out your room, apartment or house to Deakin students, all you need to do is register on Houseme. Once registered, you'll be able to put up and manage your listing.
