It’s safe to say Daniella Prezioso is currently seizing every moment and having the time of her life! Having completed the Deakin Accelerate program, studying two first year units from a Bachelor of Health Sciences during Year 12, Daniella is now studying a Bachelor of Nutrition Sciences (Dietetics pathway).
She knew Deakin was where she wanted to study for a number of reasons. The first was the
high ranking of Deakin’s School of Exercise and Nutrition Science (#1 in Australia, #3 in the world in the Shanghai Global Ranking) which provides her with access to the best available resources, learning materials, facilities and teaching staff.
Secondly, Danielle notes that Deakin’s blended offering (both on campus and online learning via Deakin Cloud), unique trimester structure and ability to vary the number of units she studied, were also key factors, and “….as someone living with a long-term medical condition, I wanted to attend a university that offered flexibility with its learning structure and support services.”
A graduate of St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School, and originally from Warragul in Victoria’s South-East, Daniella also chose to live on campus at Deakin Res Burwood.
“The Deakin Res staff have been very accommodating for my chronic illness and were very
thorough about understanding what was required to best support me. I also wanted to live somewhere where I felt welcomed, included, safe and respected since I was moving out of home for the first time to live independently.”
Daniella highlights that Deakin Res has ultimately provided the perfect fit for her circumstances and needs. “I love feeling a part of a supportive and safe community, and being able to meet lots of new, cool and interesting people. A while ago, I got home from going out with friends and my key card wouldn’t work so I’m very grateful and appreciative for the 24/7 reception and staff! I also really enjoy how easy and convenient it is to order my groceries, and Uber eats comes straight to Reception. In my hometown there’s nothing like this so it’s a fun novelty for me!”
