Res Sport, engaging residents through relationships, and college rivalry.

Deakin Res hosts an amazingly diverse range of events, each aimed at peaking the interests of our equally amazing diverse cohort of residents. From trips to the MCG, Outdoor Laser Tag or a game of Trivia, Res aims to make your experience everything you want it to be. For most ‘Resi’s’ however, their favourite time of the week is when they get to enjoy Res Sport.

Engaging upwards of 300 residents each week, Res Sport provides the opportunity for new and returning residents to meet new people, strike up friendships, keep active and be a part of what makes Res so special… College Pride!

You see, you don’t need to be the world’s best sportsperson, the tallest resident, the fastest resident, or even the strongest. It’s not about that. It’s about the bigger picture… It's about having a go... It's not about winning or losing, It's about wearing your college colours with pride... Having fun... and connecting with other like minded people!

Res Sport allows each and every one of our residents to join a team and play for something much more than a medal, something more valuable than points. It allows you to play for ‘College Pride’. It gives you pride to represent your college, with your fellow college ‘Resi’s’.

This is something that will generate friendships and memories which will last for much
longer than your time as a resident. Something that you may never fully appreciate until you are long gone, and reflecting on the best moments during your time as a ‘Resi’.

Res Sport gives you a weekly refresher, a chance to step away from your studies for 30 minutes to clear your mind and reset your focus. Res Sport is a platform for all residents to be part of the friendly rivalry between colleges, and engage with the banter that comes with it. Res Sport is the place to come if you’re having a bad day, or feeling a little homesick, because once you step onto the court you realise what you are a part of. Your very own slice of Res history. With Res sport, there are no losers, only winners because it doesn’t matter how many games you play, or how many goals you score. When you step out onto the court and hear the cheers and voices of a whole college supporting you, that’s what will stay with you through your Res Journey, and that’s the experience everyone deserves.
