Welcome to the future of recycling – welcome to Recyclobot at Deakin Res!
Recyclobot has just made its grand entrance at Deakin Res, Burwood, bringing with it a wave of innovation and eco-consciousness that's set to transform campus life. This isn't your average machine; it's a futuristic green superhero on a mission to combat waste and safeguard our planet, one recyclable at a time. And what better place to land, then at Res.
The state-of-the-art reverse vending machine accepts recyclable cans and plastic bottles, offering digital credits of $0.10 per item, paid directly into the users bank account. Doing your bit for the planet and earning a little extra cash – it's a win-win!
There's more to Recyclobot than just earning $$, however. We think the coolest function is the app’s ability to track exactly how recycling efforts contribute to environmental savings. Watch as your actions translate into reduced water usage, energy conservation, and less landfill waste – it's like having your own eco-hero dashboard right in your pocket.
Deakin Residential Services is committed to sustainability, and we're thrilled to spearhead Recyclobot's debut. By joining us, you become part of a community that doesn't just talk about protecting the environment but takes real action. Together, we're creating a culture of environmental responsibility that starts right here at DRS.
I like to think of recyclobot as a reverse vending machine, except every can I drop is one step closer to sustainable living at Deakin Res
So, what are you waiting for? Start collecting those cans and plastic bottles because Recyclobot is ready to turn your trash into treasure. Whether you're driven by a passion for the environment, seeking some extra pocket money, or simply want to be part of something cutting-edge, Recyclobot at Deakin Res is your go-to eco-friendly companion and we’re excited to see this amazing initiative potentially implemented across all DRS’ Campuses in the future.
Let's work together to make Deakin University and Deakin Res a greener place, one recyclable at a time. Who knew that saving the planet could also be so rewarding?
Did you know : In 2023, Deakin University generated a whopping 1,260 tonnes of waste – equivalent to the weight of approximately 180 large elephants! Shockingly, nearly two-thirds of this waste ended up in landfills. However, there's hope. By making conscious choices like recycling and reducing single-use items, we can significantly reduce our environmental footprint. Together, we can inspire change not only within our own Res community but also beyond, setting a standard for environmental stewardship that others can follow.
