For Harshit Balhara living on res at Deakin’s Waurn Ponds Campus was the perfect next step. Now in his second year of his Bachelors of Cybersecurity degree and originally from India Harshit decided to move onto campus to enhance his university experience.
Harshit notes
Originally from India, Harshit visited Australia when he was in year 10 and it was a result of this trip that he knew he wanted to study abroad. Harshit chose Cybersecurity as it is an essential field in today's world. It's a challenging and rewarding career path that requires continuous learning and adaptation to stay ahead of constantly evolving cybersecurity risks. He chose Deakin because it has such a great reputation back home and the course was so tailored.
For Harshit one of the best things about his res experience so far has been the impact it has had on his ability to balance his studies with life. Harshit comments. In my first year it was pretty hard to maintain a work-study-life balance as I didn’t have many friends and people I could talk to and go out with.
It feels so organised now. Now I get to spend time with my friends, while doing good with my studies as well as working part time.
For those wondering if Res might be a good fit for them Harshit concludes. Living on res was one of the best decisions I have made and have loved my journey here so far. Deakin is a very Diverse place and it feels like a home away from home coz of the people around who are very helpful and there’s always someone to talk to and help you out whenever you feel so.
