As Trimester 3 begins at Deakin in what has been a challenging year across the world, it is wonderful to see the work of the team at Deakin Residential Services (DRS) being recognised on a global and University level with a number of prestigious awards.
This acknowledgement began with two Vice-Chancellor’s Awards, which recognise and celebrate staff who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of Deakin University’s Strategic Plan.
The first award acknowledged Deakin Res’s contribution to Diversity and Inclusion through our RESPECT values, and the inclusive and supportive community that these values have helped us foster.
The second Vice-Chancellor’s Award was shared between DRS and Deakin’s Infrastructure and Property Group for the delivery of the updated residential precinct at Waurn Ponds, including Willem Yaluk College and other key facilities.
In addition to these awards, DRS has come second out of a significant pool of international entrants in the highly contested Association of College and University Housing Officers – International Marketing awards, in the category of Crisis Communications. This acknowledgement was for the clear and eye-catching COVID-19 communications created by DRS Burwood, which stood out for their clarity and effectiveness.
Reflecting on these awards, DRS CEO, Marion Bayley said,
We’re delighted to have been recognised in these prestigious international awards for the outstanding COVID messaging devised by our Burwood team, which is reflective of the concise and engaging way we have communicated with our residents throughout the pandemic.
To also be recognised with two Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for our on-campus culture developed through our RESPECT values, and our cutting-edge infrastructure with the delivery of Willem Yaluk college, is such an honour. Congratulations to all other winners in these awards!
